Dear Parents
On behalf of the staff and school governors I would like to welcome you to Hurst Primary.
Hurst Primary School is a large, successful school, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. We cover the whole primary curriculum, and offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, of which sport, music and the arts feature prominently.
We have a very active Parents’ Association, which organises numerous social events during the school year, providing opportunities for parents to meet each other, and to raise funds for the benefit of all our children.
We have very good links with the local community, with feeder grammar and secondary schools, local churches, and hold fund-raising events for local and national charities. We have a strong sense of identity, and are very proud of our school traditions, many of which date back to our foundation in 1935. Our motto is ‘Fellowship’, and it is one we seek to encourage and uphold, for successive generations of students.
The school building has been extensively modernised over the last few years, providing a modern environment for our children. The Year 5 and 6 wing was completed in 2001, and is completely self-contained with bright attractive classrooms. A modern state of the art library provides a valuable resource for pupils, wishing to develop their reading and research skills.
We believe that the education of every child is very much a partnership between home and school and we seek therefore to maintain the good communication between staff and parents.
Life is never dull at Hurst Primary. We wish you and your child happiness, and success at our school, and can assure you that we will provide the very best education for your child, while in our care.
A L Linnett Head Teacher
