Year 2

You may or may not be aware that end of Key Stage 1 tests (SATs) which were mandatory in previous years are now optional for schools to administer.

At Hurst, as in many schools, we have made the decision to continue using the SATs tests as our end of year formal assessments to help inform our teacher assessment judgements. The children will complete these assessments in exactly the same way as previous year 2 cohorts but during the first two weeks after half term (3 – 14 June 2024).

Assessment Grids

Below are the assessment grids for reading, writing and maths which teachers use in order to help assess children’s learning in these subjects. They consist of a list of ‘I can’ statements that are age and stage appropriate, covering skills and content covered.
